ECG Celebrates 50years. +++ 50 Years of Powering the Socio-Economic Growth and Development of Ghana

Twenty-one people, including seven women, have been arrested in Kumasi for illegal connection of electricity.

They were picked up in separate operations by the Electricity Company of Ghana in the Danyame and Suame Districts.

Seventeen consumers at Danyame who together owe the ECG over 200, 000 Ghana cedis restored supply to themselves after they were disconnected.

"The Company has recovered 5,106,837 kilowatts amounting to GH¢3,238,764.28 while customers have paid GH¢1,612,560.37." -Ag.Director, Customer Services

The Media have been briefed on a special revenue protection exercise embarked upon by the Company on August 1, at a press conference at Head Office in Accra on Wednesday, September 30, The Ag. Director of Customer Services, Nana Kobina Arthur Forson, who addressed the media, said the Company has so far screened 21,192 meters out of 36,496 visited during the exercise.

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has defended its proposal for a 100 percent upward adjustment of tariffs for the year 2015 to the PublicUtilities Regulatory Commission (PURC).

The Company is seeking an adjustment in tariff from 16.5Gp per kilowatt to 35Gp to enable the Company meet the increasing customer population, meet investment demands and recover its operational cost.

A 28-year-old man, Osman Razak, was arrested on the Tema Motorway for allegedly stealing Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) underground cables.

Razak was accosted while he was busy digging up the underground cables. He was arrested with a shovel, a mattock and a pickaxe about 4a.m. last Wednesday digging out the cables under the electricity poles near the Tema Motorway.

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has commissioned an office at Abuakwa, in the Atwima Nwabiagya District, as part of the company’s strategic policy of promoting corporate visibility, as well as delivering quality services to the doorsteps of their customers by enhancing power supply in the district and region.
