The Electricity Company of Ghana Ltd., has commissioned a 40MVA Primary substation in Hohoe in the Volta Region on 12th July, 2017. The construction of the Primary substation, one of the Company’s initiatives in improving reliable service provision for its customers, cost the Company three million, four hundred thousand U.S Dollars (USD3,400,000), approximately, fifteen million, two hundred thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢15,200,000).

Ghana’s electricity sub-sector will soon have an oversight body regulating its activities, as envisaged in a Legislative Instrument passed by Parliament in 2008.
Officials of the Energy Ministry say the Electricity Market Oversight Panel (EMOP) would among others, seek to monitor the general performance of electricity transmission, ensure smooth and efficient operation of the wholesale electricity market, monitor pre-dispatch schedules and ensure long-term optimisation of hydro-electricity supply sources in the country.

Management of the Electricity Company of Ghana has come to an agreement with the Yilo and Manya Krobo traditional leaders to resume work after several months of closure.
The assumption of work by the workers of ECG today [Thursday] comes after residents of Somanya besieged the premises of the Somanya ECG office, attacked and vandalized property belonging to the company on May 26, 2017, following claims the company was over billing them.

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has invested 40 million dollars to undertake some projects in the Volta Region.
The Managing Director of ECG, Engineer Samuel Boakye-Appiah revealed at the commissioning of a new primary station in Hohoe in the Volta Region that the projects are aimed at expanding and improving its network infrastructure in the region. He added that the projects will help the company “provide sustainable quality and stable power supply to clients”.

GITTA recognises customer service innovation and excellence in the Ghana Telecom and Information Technology industry. The Theme for this year’s awards celebration was “Promoting and Rewarding Excellence in Ghana ICT sector”, which gave eligible organizations and individuals the opportunity to compete for prestigious awards.

Electricity Company of Ghana has commissioned a team of engineers to investigate incessant power cuts during downpours.
ECG Managing Director, Samuel Boakye-Appiah, who describes the situation “disturbing”, says the report of the team will help the company deal with the situation.

Electricity Company of Ghana says it is investing 123 million dollars to procure new equipment for improved service delivery and revenue generation.
Officials say this will address persistent instability in power supply, especially, in the Ashanti Region which Deputy Minister for Energy disagrees is a return to ‘dumso’.
Managing Director of ECG, Samuel Boakye-Appiah, says 600 new transformers and 500,000 new prepaid meters are expected to be installed over the next three years.
