The Public Utilities and Regulatory Commission (PURC), has said the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) cannot release a load shedding timetable because the current erratic power supply is just a temporary problem. The PURC’s announcement comes on the back of mounting pressure from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP),  residents and civil society groups, asking the ECG to release a schedule to allow for adequate planning by businesses and households.

Robert Dwamena, the Managing Director (MD) of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) was presented a plaque after a motivational speech during the graduation ceremony of the College of Engineering of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.

The ECG MD, who graduated from the KNUST with a degree in Geodetic Engineering about 35 years ago, was given a standing ovation by the enthusiastic students and other people present when he received the award from Dr. Kwame Sarah Mensah, Chairman of the University Council, KNUST.

Female staff of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have started clamping down on illegal connection of power.

Supported by members of the Loss Control Unit of the ECG, in one such episode the female staff, led by Ms Rosemond Asamoah Frimpong, the National President of the Power Queens Club, visited houses in Kaneshie, Swanlake and Fadama in Accra last Friday. 

Sixty out of the 150 customers whose meters were inspected were found to have engaged in illegal connections and had consumed power to the tune of GH¢120,000.

The affected customers had their electricity supply disconnected and  were surcharged with the power had consumed

The Electricity Company of Ghana Limited on Wednesday 15th July 2016, held a one-day sensitization programme for customers in Adum, a suburb of Kumasi to introduce the rollout of the SMART-G prepaid meter installation in the area. By 10:00 am customers and general public thronged the Paul Sagoe Lane in their numbers, some of whom were unhappy and vowed to resist any attempt to install the prepaid meter in their premises.

 

On the 11th day of July 2016, the General Manager of the Training Centre was welcomed from his leave with a surprise party organised by the staff.

The party was to say Ayekoo to their General Manager Dr. Ing. George Yaw Marfo for acquiring a Doctorate Degree from Swiss Management Centre University.In response, Dr. Marfo thanked God for how far He has brought him and the staff for their support.
