ECG has made immense strides with the introduction of Live Line maintenance system, especially in the Central Region.

The Live Line maintenance system allows maintenance works to be carried out on both 11kV and 33kV energised lines without taking customers off the national grid. The use of this unique facility across the nine operational districts in the region has been applauded by customers since the use of the system has reduced maintenance-related outages and attendant inconveniences.

A delegation of six (6) from the Electricité de Guinée (EDG) paid a 4-day working visit to the Electricity Company of Ghana Limited to learn about the implementation of the Prepayment Metering Systems starting from the Thursday 26th May 2016.

According to the head of the delegation, Dr.Kouyate Laye, who is also the Special Advisor to the MD, staff, and the public are resisting the prepayment system. Adding that while staff fears of being laid off, the public are panicking to pay a higher tariff.

The delegation is visiting three countries: Ghana, Senegal, and Togo.

A taskforce of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) inaugurated by the Power Ministry is gearing up for an audit of some selected ECG meters to establish the veracity or otherwise of over-billing concerns of some consumers.

The Power Ministry, on Wednesday May 18, said the audit had become necessary owing to increasing complaints by consumers about faulty meters and their accompanying exorbitant charges.

The Electricity Company of Ghana Limited has launched an initiative dubbed “Customer Complaints Day” in all its business centers on Saturday, April 30, 2016, in the Ashanti Region.

The “Customer Complaints Day” the first of its kind, is an initiative by ECG, to resolve complaints about billing, tariff application, prepaid recharge units, meters and power outages.

A 35 year old Electrician, Ofosu Adjei, has been sentenced to two years imprisonment with hard labour by the Asamankese Magistrate Court in the Eastern Region for posing as an officer of ECG. The Court, presided over by His Lordship Charles Wiafe convicted Ofosu Adjei on his own plea of guilty to a single count of defrauding by false pretence.
