ECG Celebrates 50years. +++ 50 Years of Powering the Socio-Economic Growth and Development of Ghana

The Electricity Company of Ghana has officially launched a Project Management Manual for Electrical Projects (PMMEP) and a Code of Conduct for Third Party Contractors to guide the discharge of their functions.

The two documents were launched in the Western Region, as part of the annual review meeting of the Network Projects Directorate.

ECG and the Ministry of Power have expressed readiness for Wednesday, December 7, general elections at a visit to the EC Headquarters in Accra on the 1st of December, 2016. Upon their visit to the EC Headquarters, the ECG and the Power Ministry presented 15000 solar lamps to the Electoral Commission as part of the contingency plans to ensure constant power supply at polling stations and collation centres during the elections.

Students of Archbishop Porter Girls Senior High School in Takoradi have been schooled on the operations of the Electricity Company of Ghana. The education formed part of the week-long celebrations to mark the 28th anniversary of Power Queens Club. The theme for the celebrations was “Integrity in Service Delivery, the role of the Queen”.


A self-styled pastor and two electricians have been gaoled six months for interfering in the distribution network of the Company and attempting to defraud a businessman in Accra.

Jude Bentum, Pastor, Kofi Agyeman Aboagye and Richard Asusey, both electricians, pleaded guilty and were convicted on their own plea by an Accra Circuit Court presided over by Mrs. Afi Agbanu-Kudomor on Saturday November 5, 2016.

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has rolled out a contingency plan to ensure stable supply of power during the December 7, 2017 general election and beyond, the Managing Director of the company, Mr Robert Dwamena, has said.

Under the plan, the company will deploy its engineers to man all critical installations, including the bulk supply points,  primary substation transformers and lines that will feed constituency collation centres across the country.

The Management of ECG Volta, has held separate dialogues with two key stakeholders in the Company’s operations – the media and Customers – within the Region. The engagements coincided with the celebration of the 2016 Safety, Health and Environment Week.

Speaking to selected senior media personnel, the Volta Regional General Manager, Ing. Joseph Forson, recounted some challenges the Company faced at the beginning of 2016. He stressed that despite the challenge of adequately supplying power to customers, due to power generation challenges, customers in the region were supportive and understanding throughout the period.
