The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has rolled out a contingency plan to ensure stable supply of power during the December 7, 2017 general election and beyond, the Managing Director of the company, Mr Robert Dwamena, has said.

Under the plan, the company will deploy its engineers to man all critical installations, including the bulk supply points,  primary substation transformers and lines that will feed constituency collation centres across the country.

The Management of ECG Volta, has held separate dialogues with two key stakeholders in the Company’s operations – the media and Customers – within the Region. The engagements coincided with the celebration of the 2016 Safety, Health and Environment Week.

Speaking to selected senior media personnel, the Volta Regional General Manager, Ing. Joseph Forson, recounted some challenges the Company faced at the beginning of 2016. He stressed that despite the challenge of adequately supplying power to customers, due to power generation challenges, customers in the region were supportive and understanding throughout the period.

The Electricity Company of Ghana has launched this year’s Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Week celebration in the Central region.
This annual event is aimed at deepening awareness on safety at the workplace, and fostering closer ties with key stakeholders in communities where we operate. The theme for this year’s week-long event is “Workplace Stress: A Collective Challenge”.

Good morning ladies and gentlemen of the media,

The Electricity Company of Ghana called this press briefing to explain the recent distribution challenges and assure our customers and the general public that the outlook for the future is bright according to our suppliers, and that we have also strengthened our distribution system enough to ensure we deliver quality, reliable and safe electricity services to our customers.

The Utility Circuit Court in Accra has sentenced Hayford Mortey, an IT Officer, and Mumuni Issaka, a tailor, to a fine of 100 penalty units (GHs 1,200) each, for stealing an ECG master card.

They are also to pay compensation of GHs 2,000 each to ECG, or in default, serve one year in prison with hard labour.

The Electricity Company of Ghana has held a one-day Distribution Engineering Training for selected journalists in the Western Region. The training programme which also included a facility tour was aimed at introducing journalists to Ghana’s Power Supply chain (Generation, Transmission, and Distribution) and ECG’s role in same.
