As part of the Annual Week celebrations of the Power Queens Club of the Electricity Company of Ghana Limited, the Club made donations to the National Blood Bank and the Cardiothoracic Centreof the Korle-bu Teaching hospital. As part of the week long anniversary celebrations, the Club organised a blood donation exercise at the Accra West, Accra East and Tema Regions, as well as the Head Office, to aid in stocking the National Blood Bank.
In addition to the blood donation exercise, the group donated an amount of GH¢15,000 to the Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital on Friday November 27, 2015.
The President of the Club, Rosemond Frimpong noted that, such donations, which the Club considers part of their social responsibility, will go a long way to improve health delivery in the Nation. She promised the group will extend such acts to other sectors of health delivery.
Receiving the donation, Dr. Kow Enstuah Mensah, a Surgeon at the Cardiothoracic Center noted his outfit’s appreciation for the group’s gesture, and promised his outfit will put the money into good use. He reiterated his outfit is faced with several challenges but was optimistic that help from benevolent societies could ease up the burden
