ECG Goes Door -To – Door

G

THE ELECTRICITY Company of Ghana (ECG) has started what it has termed as ‘door-to-door’ campaign to boost its revenue collection.

This new approach has been adopted by management of the company to help enhance revenue collection and boost the company’s service delivery.

As part of this move, ECG chieftains in the Ashanti Region will be required to also visit homes and organizations to assist in collecting unpaid tariffs.

“From September to October this year, all ECG top officials in the Ashanti Region will be supporting the taskforce in the revenue collection of the company. They will be part of the ‘door-to-door’ campaign, which will help us get more money in order to effectively enhance our operations to our customers”, Mr. Erasmus Kyere Baidoo, the Ashanti Regional ECG Communications Director, said during an interview with DAILY GUIDE.

He said several companies and individuals have defaulted in paying their tariffs for some time now and that had resulted in adverse effects on their operations.

Mr. Kyere Baidoo noted that management of the ECG in the Ashanti Region has therefore resolved to make sure that all defaulters pay their tariffs promptly.

“That is why we have started the ‘door-to-door’ campaign to collect tariffs and as part of this move defaulters will have their power supply disconnected”, he stated.

The Ashanti Regional ECG Communications Director urged chiefs and opinion leaders not to interfere when defaulters are disconnected by the ECG taskforce.

Mr. Kyere Baidoo said residents in the region could clearly testify that power supply from the ECG had been consistent and reliable for some time now.

According to him, the ECG critically needs resources in order to sustain its professional services hence the need for the ‘door-to-door’ revenue operation.
