The Electricity Company of Ghana Limited has entered into partnership with Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) on September 28, 2016, at the Head Office, Accra.
The MOU is to support the Company’s Operations in the fields of Supervising Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Loss Reduction, Geographic Information System (GIS), Advance Metering Infrastructure (AMI), and Distribution Automation System (DAS).
In his welcome address, the Managing Director of ECG, Mr. Robert Dwamena, welcomed the Korean delegation to Ghana and to ECG, and assured them of a pleasant stay. He said the relationship between the Companies will help develop ECG’s human resource capacity, and also give ECG employees the opportunity to tap into the technical expertise of KEPCO.
The areas of corporation are;
a.Exchange of data and/ or information
b.Exchange of visits by personnel such as experts, engineers and technicians in electricity
c.Capacity building (practical training on-the-job and scholarly training)
d.Conducting studies (feasibility, operational efficiency, etc.)
e.Sharing of best practices
Mr. Dwamena stated the purpose of the MOU, which aimed at promoting bilateral co-operation between both Companies, and supporting each other through technical assistance, sharing of knowledge, exchange of information and experience in the field of electricity.
The Executive Vice President & Chief Global Business Officer of KEPCO, Ha Bong-Soo said his Company is the best utility company in the world as rated by the Forbes Magazine in the United States of America. Currently, KEPCO is in charge of the whole spectrum of power in Korea, that is, Generation, Transmission and Distribution.
Mr. Ha Bong-Soo, thanked Management of ECG for their warm reception and said he looked forward to a fruitful and lasting business relationship with ECG.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Dwamena expressed gratitude for the partnership between both Companies and thanked KEPCO for engaging ECG in a fruitful engagement. Again, he expressed hope for a productive partnership between ECG and KEPCO, which will go a long way to strengthen the relationship between the Ghana Government and the Korea Government.
