Ghana Women’s Associations Discuss Women’s Advancement In Power Utilities

The Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana, Kwame Agyeman-Budu was the special guest of honour at two-day Women in Energy Conference in Accra.

The programme, held at the Labadi Beach Hotel, was organised by the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA), in collaboration with the Ghana Power Compact Implementing Entities including Electricity Company of Ghana, Ministry of Energy, and the Ghana Standards Authority.

The purpose of the conference was to promote networking, knowledge exchange, harness the diverse experiences and best practices of Female Employee Associations and leverage strategies for advancing gender equality to improve organizational performance.

The conference brought together over one hundred participants from public and private power utility companies and civil society organisations around the world.

Team Volta De-Stress in Sogakope

The management and staff of Team Volta on Saturday, 23rd November 2019 organized Fun Games at the Sogakope WAFA Sports Complex to de-stress themselves after a very long and tedious 2019.

The games which started with a health walk through the principal streets of Sogakope saw all eleven Districts and the Regional Office compete for honours in Table Tennis, Football, Sack race, Ludu, Draft, Oware, Tug of Peace and Cards.

The Northern Sector of the Region was represented by Dambai, Nkwanta and Jasikan Districts, the Middle Belt was represented by Hohoe, Kpando and Kpeve Districts, the Southern Sector was represented by Sogakope, Akatsi, Denu and Keta Districts. The Regional Office and Ho District formed one team to complete the four slots of the competition.

Welcoming participants to the games, Ing. Jones Makumator, Ag. General Manager for Team Volta, reiterated that “this program was organized to promote unity and ensure staff stay healthy to work for the success of the company”. He advised staff to be cautious of themselves to prevent injuries during the games.

Ing. Makumator commended the staff for exhibiting professional standards throughout this year and impressed upon them to keep the lights on and keep collecting revenue for the company.

The Middle Belt took first place in football after defeating the Regional Office 4-3 on penalties in the final game whiles the Southern Sector took 3rd place after beating the Northern Sector 4-0 during the 3rd place game.

Also present to grace the occasion were: Ing. Delali Oklu (GM/VOLTA), Mr Christian Anyanful (DM/SOGAKOPE), Mrs Christine Hadzi (DM/ DENU), Mr Richard Twum-Asare (DM/KPEVE) and Mr Nelson Terkper (DM/AKATSI).

8th Annual General meeting of ECG Head Office Co-Operative Credit Union

The Head office Credit union of ECG held its 8th Annual General Meeting on Friday, 22nd November 2019 at the Osu Ebenezer Presbyterian Church.

In attendance was the Managing Director of the Company, Kwame Agyeman-Budu who was the special guest for the program.

The MD encouraged the executives and members to continue their good work and promised to run an open-door style of administration.

The Chairman for the program, Mr Samuel Tagoe/ Director Premises and Estates was grateful that the MD honoured the invitation and assured him of members' support throughout his term in office..

ECG Junior Staff Association Holds its 3rd National Divisional Conference.

The ECG Junior Staff Association has held its 2019 National Divisional general elections at the PUWU Village, Kasoa.

The divisional conference, held every 4 years, is to elect new Executives to steer the affairs of the Union.
Addressing the house, the General Secretary of PUWU, Mr. Adumata Nyantakyi, gave a word of advice and urged members to appreciate one another. He further acknowledged Management's support in building the PUWU Village.

The Union Chairman, Mr. Quaye Larbi also advised the Union to stand firm and remain focused, despite the wind of change blowing, and to position itself to impact positively on our Nation's development.

Iddi Baba Ali, the National Chairperson of PUWU, also touched on building good relationships and solidarity.

The Managing Director of the Company, Mr. Kwame Agyeman-Budu, who was the Special Guest for the occasion, remarked that the continuous operations of the PUWU gives him much joy because it signifies togetherness.

Mr. Agyeman-Budu said he is energized by the agenda of the programme which shows the tenacity of ECG staff to make things happen, adding that Staff welfare will continue to be a priority to him.
“If staff work hard, they will be rewarded accordingly." As an advocate of safety, he assured that the safety of staff will continue to be a top-most priority, and he will see to it that the necessary tools are provided for the safety of all staff.

The elections took place after the speeches and the newly elected executives are:  Samuel Agbeto - Chairman,Western; Nicholas Appiah - 1st Vice, Eastern; Magaret Marfo - 2nd Vice, Central; Seth K. Agyemfra - Secretary, Projects Office; Prosper Abosti - Asst. Secretary, Ashanti SBU; Frank Sawyer - 1st Trustee, Sub-T; Daniel Koney - 2nd Trustee, Accra East; and Alhasan Hameed - Youth Rep. Volta.
